We performed our Spring Concert on 24th March at Chagford parish church, featuring two favourite works:

Haydn: Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass) and

Fauré: Requiem

Friend of the choir, Kit Newsome very much enjoyed the concert:

I DID enjoy Chagford Singers’ concert:  you have a super new conductor (very sensitive and calm) and lovely to hear Shaun on the organ, and of course all the Singers who were in good voice with an excellent variety in dynamic, clear diction and sensitively sung:  sopranos and altos particularly good!  Did like the young performers, both in the small orchestra and the soloists – ideal for this subtle French work.  How appropriate it is just before Holy Week:  we’re really very lucky having you all in Chagford!

We were joined by four soloists from the University of Exeter Chapel Choir, who beautifully accompanied the choir, who sang the solo parts for both works beautifully.

Soprano Imogen Hanvey
Alto Jessie Woodhouse
Tenor Sam Foster
Bass Joe Reed

We were also fortunate to have a string quintet performing alongside the organ, in Michael Higgins’ new orchestration of the Fauré for string quintet:

Violin Beth Fenton
Andy Henderson
Viola Katharine Thomson
‘cello Théa-Rose Mumford
Double Bass Paul Evans
